Bible study at St. Demetrios

Bible study is the study of the Bible by ordinary people as a personal spiritual practice or discipline. The practice of studying the Bible personally at home and with others goes back to the earliest days of the Christian faith and has been kept alive in the Orthodox Church through the most horrific persecutions in history.

The great Saint, teacher and preacher, John Chrysostom, had many instructions for his flock on the reading of Scripture, and for those who did not read the Bible, he had this to say;

“This is the cause of all evils, the not knowing the Scriptures.”

(Hom. IX  On Colossians)

Our Bible Studies take place on Thursday Evenings between 7pm -8pm at the Youth Center Meeting Room, 3223 Atlantic St NE, Warren, OH. Please check our calendar for upcoming sessions. When possible, try to take a good Bible survey course, to give you a broader and more accurate view of the entirety of Bible content.

Bible study in this sense is distinct from biblical studies, which is a formal academic discipline.
